In Their Own Words: Borelli Talks About SteelStack’s Impact on Precision Laser Cutting
SteelStack is designed to clean up floor space, improve material handling times, and provixe maximum vertical steel storage. In this post, James Borelli discusses their previous system of storage at Precision Laser Cutting and their experience with their SteelStack sheet metal storage system.
Why did you need SteelStack sheet metal storage?
“The biggest reason for us was space. We’re out of space. Materials were coming off the truck and going in a pile and eventually it gets to the cantilevers, but you have to get five pallets out of the way to get to it. It worked, but we needed to do something better.
Now that we have SteelStack, it gives us more room to move in there. Plus, there is more space with SteelStack than our cantilever style because there is not pallets and boards and stuff in between.”
Were you looking at any other solutions? Is there a reason that SteelStack stood out?
“A few years ago, a consultant stopped in one time to discuss lasers and I said, “what else do you have?” He gave me a brochure about steel racking and that’s what tripped my interest.
Recently, my boss came around and said that we need to figure out space in the shop because he needed the storage shed for something else. I gave him some information about SteelStack. He looked at it and said let’s get it done.”
What do you think of SteelStack? What does the future look like?
“Now, the floor is cleaner. There are not pallets laying all over. After installation, we had our ISO audit. Our auditor said that’s definitely a nice improvement and looks a lot cleaner. He was happy with it too because everything’s more organized for ISO purposes.
In the future, we can still get another one or two SteelStack storage units in there.”
